Choosing the robot

How wide does an aisle need to be for a delivery robot?
It depends on the model, and it is the first thing to check. The narrowest in our catalogue are the DINERBOT T11 (49 cm), the KettyBot Pro (≥52 cm) and the DINERBOT T8 (55 cm). Mid-range: DINERBOT T10 (59 cm) and the industrial PUDU T150 (60 cm) and T300 AMR (≥60 cm). Needing more room: BUTLERBOT W3 and DINERBOT T9 (70 cm), DINERBOT T3 (75 cm) and KEENON S100 (90 cm). Every product page lists the model's minimum clearance. If you do not know your aisle widths, we measure them during the visit.
How much weight can a delivery robot carry?
Dining-room robots carry between 20 and 40 kg spread across their trays: BellaBot and BellaBot Pro take 40 kg total, 10 kg per tray; the DINERBOT T8 and BUTLERBOT W3, 20 kg. Logistics and industry work at a different scale: PUDU T150 (150 kg), T300 AMR (300 kg), T600 (600 kg) and MP2000 (2,000 kg). The per-tray limit matters as much as the total.
How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?
Delivery robots quote between 9 and 18 hours unloaded — the DINERBOT T9 reaches 18 h, the T8 15 h, the BellaBot 13 h and the FlashBot Max 9 h — with a recharge of 4 to 6.5 hours. Cleaning robots run shorter shifts because they move water and brushes: 2 to 6 hours depending on mode. Note the "unloaded": those are the manufacturer's figures under ideal conditions, and a full dining room at peak draws more. The BellaBot also supports quick battery swap for round-the-clock operation.
What is the difference between a delivery robot, a cleaning robot and an industrial AMR?
Three different jobs. Delivery robots move plates, orders or supplies between two points, usually with trays and a screen. Cleaning robots sweep, vacuum or scrub along a route, and are measured in square metres per hour, not kilos. Industrial AMRs move pallets and carts weighing hundreds of kilos in warehouses and plants. The catalogue keeps them in separate categories on purpose.

How they work

How does the robot find its way? Do we need floor or ceiling markers?
It uses SLAM: it builds a map of the venue and locates itself inside it in real time, combining lidar with cameras. The BellaBot uses 3 RGBD cameras plus lidar. No markers or building changes are required: Pudu states that its laser navigation works code-free with no height limit, and that its marker-free system cuts deployment time by 75% versus the previous method. Ceiling markers remain an option for difficult cases, not a requirement.
What happens if someone steps in front of it? Does it crash?
It stops. The BellaBot has 3D omnidirectional obstacle avoidance with a stated reaction time of 0.5 seconds, and detects both low-lying and overhanging obstacles — what a floor-level sensor alone would miss. Keenon models use multi-layer detection with several sensors. In practice the robot stops, waits and, if the path stays blocked, finds another route or calls for help. None of this replaces common sense in a busy room, which is why we plan routes that avoid the busiest crossings.
Can it climb stairs? Can it reach another floor?
Stairs, no. These are wheeled robots: the BellaBot handles a maximum slope of — enough for a gentle ramp, not a step. For multiple floors the answer is the lift: models such as Pudu's FlashBot and Keenon's BUTLERBOT W3 can call and ride it on their own. That requires integrating the robot with the building's lift, so it belongs in the project stage, not afterwards.
Does it need Wi-Fi or internet to work?
To move, no: the robot navigates with its onboard map, so it keeps running if the network drops. The network is needed for everything else: calling it from a screen or button, remote monitoring, usage reports and software updates. What matters is stable coverage along the whole route, corners included — a dead spot in the middle of the room is more noticeable than a slow connection.
How fast does it move?
The BellaBot travels between 0.5 and 1.2 m/s, adjustable. For reference, 1 m/s is a relaxed walking pace. Speed is set per venue: lower it in a room with tightly packed tables, raise it in a long clear corridor.
Do we need building work or changes to the venue?
Generally no. For Pudu's AMR solutions the manufacturer states they require no facility modifications, and marker-free navigation means nothing has to be stuck to floors or ceilings. What you do need to plan is the obvious: a spot with a power outlet for the charging dock, aisles that meet the model's minimum clearance, and a floor in reasonable condition. All of that is checked during the visit, before you buy.

How much does a service robot cost?
We do not publish prices, because the figure depends on the model, the configuration and what the installation involves at each site: a dining-room robot is not a 600 kg AMR, and a standalone unit is not one integrated with the building's lift. Will the robot replace my staff?
No, and promising that would be selling smoke. What it does is take the repetitive, physical part off your team — fetching and carrying, sweeping the same metres every day — so people can be where a person is actually needed: serving, solving, selling. Where it works well, the robot runs the trays and staff stop walking kilometres per shift.
